Epoch
The definition of the decibel originated in the measurement of transmission loss and power in telephony at the beginning of the 20th century in the Bell System in the United States. The bel was named in honor of Alexander Graham Bell, but the bel is seldom used. In the 1920s in New York, telephone engineers publicly measured the noise of the city using massive hearing test equipment, and named the results as percentages of hearing loss. This is the context in which noise was systematically quantified in terms of volume and the unit of the decibel was developed.
Equivalence
0 dB. It is the threshold of hearing, silence. From 0 to 10 dB (5 decibels). Very low noise levels, almost imperceptible and faint noises. Calm breathing, an isolated and noiseless cave. From 10 to 20 dB (15 decibels) These are very low noise levels. Whispers, footsteps. From 20 to 30 dB (25 decibels). The noise level is low. The existing noise in a library or any enclosure with silent people, recording studios, empty rooms isolated from the outside, the noise of leaves with very little intense wind in the field. From 30 dB to 40 dB (35 decibels). The noise level is moderate. A normal conversation, a room with little activity, a quiet day in the countryside, the noise of moderate waves at sea, a quiet residential area. From 40 dB to 50 dB (45 decibels). The noise level is normal. A room with people, an office, the noise made by a not very silent appliance, a little busy street, a fridge. From 50 dB to 60 dB (55 decibels). The noise level is a bit high. Some appliances like not very noisy vacuum cleaners or blenders, a crowd of people on the street, a busy office, traffic on a busy street, a television at medium volume. From 60 dB to 70 dB (65 decibels). The noise level is high. Group of people talking very loudly, a crowded restaurant, a phone ringing near the ear. From 70 dB to 80 dB (75 decibels). The noise level is very high. From 75 decibels, noise begins to cause damage. A shouting argument, city traffic, very noisy appliances, a noisy motorcycle at a short distance, the inside of an airplane. From 80 dB to 90 dB (85 decibels). Noise is harmful in prolonged exposures. The passage of a train, factory machinery, fire truck sirens, a noisy demonstration. From 90 dB to 100 dB (95 decibels). It is a noise level that causes discomfort and is harmful on a continuous basis. A fire truck siren at a short distance, a traffic jam with the horns of the vehicles. From 100 dB to 120 dB (110 decibels). It is a risk level. A pneumatic hammer at a short distance, a disco, a music concert, firecrackers, sports stadiums at decisive moments, an airplane taking off, a formula one race. More than 120 decibels. Pain is perceived and there is a risk of losing hearing. The noise of an airplane taking off less than 25 meters away, or an intense explosion. 180 dB The eruption of the Krakatoa volcano 160 km away. The takeoff of a spacecraft. Levels above 180 dB. They can cause death.

Reach a certain decibel and the bombs will explode! Decibel is an urban horror action film that revolves around former commander Kang Do-Young (Rae-won Kim), who is revered as a national hero for saving many of his men in an underwater accident. One day, he receives a cryptic phone call from a bomb designer informing him that a sound-sensitive explosive has been placed in a football stadium right in the middle of the city. When the crowd noise reaches a certain decibel, a bomb will be activated. Just in time, Commander Kang saves innocent lives, but the terrorist remains determined to hurt more victims, including Kang's wife and daughter. Now, the commander must race against time to locate the terrorist and save his family. In the midst of this impossible task, dark secrets that the commander left buried in the sea resurface.
Some songs
Decibelios was an influential Oi! band formed in 1980 in El Prat, Barcelona, Spain. They are considered pioneers of the Oi! movement in Spain. Originally named "dB", they changed their name to "Decibelios" upon discovering that there was already a group with the initials "dB". They recorded eight albums and several singles during their ten-year career, and in 2014 they returned to the stage. The group stood out for their fusion of punk and ska, and for their contribution to Oi! music in Spain. Throughout their career, they experimented with various musical styles and collaborated with several musicians. Despite some controversies, such as the unauthorized inclusion of a version of Antonio Machín's song "Angelitos negros" on one of their albums, Decibelios achieved a certain success and recognition. The name "Decibelios" is a reference to the unit of measurement of sound intensity, the decibel. This name reflects the noisy and energetic nature of the group's music, as well as their desire to be heard. In summary, Decibelios was a group that left a lasting mark on Oi! music in Spain.
