There is
"There is" is used for singular or uncountable nouns : Existence of a singular object or item: There is a cat on the roof. There is a book on the table. General existence or availability: There is plenty of food in the fridge. There is a solution to every problem. Time expressions: There is still time to finish the project. There is a meeting at 3 PM.
"There are" is used for plural nouns : Existence of a plural object or items: There are flowers in the garden. There are many students in the classroom.
Affirmative: There is + singular noun or uncountable noun There is a swimming pool in the garden. There is water in the sink. There are + plural noun There are big windows in the kitchen. Negative: To make a negative sentence, you add "not" after "is" or "are." Example: There is not(isn't) a basement in the house. Example: There are not (aren't) any stairs in the house. OR There are no stairs in the house.
Interrogative: To form a question, you can invert the order of "there" and the verb. Is there a cellar for the wine? Are there any recent repairs ? Interrogative-Negative: You can combine the negative and interrogative forms. Isn't there wine cellar in the basement ? Aren't there any future development plans for the neighborhood ? Past form : There is = There was There are = There were
