Scientific name: Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus Habitat: lightly forested areas such as palm swamps and flooded grasslands (a major part of the population lives in the Pantanal region of Brazil). Population: 4,300 Food: daily fresh fruit and vegetables like apple, carrot, beans, peas, corn, broccoli and spinach. Curiosities: they can mimic human speech; they can be very loud; their beaks are extremely strong; they have a peculiar relashionship with poison; and they can live for a long time. What causes the extinction of this specie: habitat degradation and capture for the lucrative pet trade.
