Edimburgh

The official language of Scotland is English but in some northern areas an old dialect called "Gaelic" still remains.
It is said that a Nordic king called Hakoon landed in the Scottish coast intending to invade them. The Scott people weren´t aware of their presence. At night, while the Scotts were sleeping confidently, the Nordic soldiers began to approach. They took off their shoes to not make any noise. There were some thistle plants around and the barefoot Nordic steped on them. They strated to shout in pain and woke up the Scotts that could fight and defend themselves. Eventually, the Scotts won and they adopted the thistle as a protection symbol thankfull for their victory.
