Aims and Objectives
Aims:To identify and apply effective blended learning strategies to integrate within teaching and learning. Objectives:To identify opportunities for blended learning. To apply strategies within a blended learning environment. To explore blended learning strategies within a practical learning context.
A student is a pilgrim
Like a pilgrim, a student is a person that makes a journey, often a long and difficult one, to a special place of value. On that journey, a student is subject to factors of time, place, path, level, pace and modality of journey – these are all factors addressed by blended learning.
Liminality: Transitional or transformational space between a ‘real’ (secure, known, limited) world and an unknown or imaginary space of both risks and possibility.
Playtime...
Activity:Explore the example strategies and applications given to you on the Blended Pedagogue's TEL Blackboard page. Each one is signposted easy or intermediate (nothing here is particularly difficult to implement).Decide which strategies you wish to apply - you will have the opportunity to produce at least two.
Circuits...
Activity:You are provided with blended learning resources for 3 learning themes: Research and understandingReview and evaluationProduction and creationYou will have the opportunity to spend 10 minutes exploring and building a resource before moving onto another. You will the opportunity to move around at least 2 resources. Instructions on how to use each resource are contained within the 'Toolkit' section below.
The Power of cut and paste...
The good news about each of these resources is that they can be cut and pasted or 'shared' within your VLE Blackboard space, a Padlet wall or inserted into a Blendspace. As such, each resource provides opportunities for multiple combinations and collaborations to inform students' reflection, development and progress; such opportunities often facilitate greater insight and comprehension, whilst encouraging independent learning and reducing tutor workload. Activity:By referring to guidance within the resource guides, cut and paste the EMBED code and place a resource within a space upon your Blackboard VLE.
