WARM UP

What is a FRAMEWORK?

  • A structured approach or methodology used by teachers to design and execute classes (ESL).
  • This encloses language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
  • It allows teachers to organize lesson plans, activities, and evaluations to facilitate language learning.

a Framework is

PPU FRAMEWORK

When we are planning a lesson where students will learn new language, we need to structure the lesson to...

  • Instruction is guided by a preplanned curriculum
  • Set the expectations for student learning
  • Students are carefully oriented to lessons.
  • Instruction is clear and focused.
  • Learning progress is monitored closely.
  • When students do not understand, they are retaught.
  • Personal interactions between teachers and students are positive.

The characteristics of effective teaching

Adapted from Astria, 2016. The Use of PPP (Presentation, Practice, Production) Technique in Teaching English

Before we get started...

SWBAT stands for “Students Will Be Able To…” and it should begin all of the lesson objectives that you write as a teacher. Using SWBAT properly places the focus of a lesson plan on what the students learn and do rather that what the teacher teaches and does.

PPU Framework

In these lessons. We will work with the PPU Framework - which allows us to design a lesson including these three parts: Presentation, Practice, and Use. We most often use this framework to plan lessons teaching the following:

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a framework is "a system of rules, ideas, or beliefs that is used to plan or decide something"

How do you think this is related to plan effective teaching lessons?
