thomas è un ragazzo che si ritrova in una radura al centro del labirinto.come gli altri ragazzi arrivati prima di lu, non ha alcuna memoria del proprio passato. presto il giovane dimostrerà di possedere una prospettiva unica ed originale che gli permetterà assieme ai suoi amici di uscire dal labirinto. grazie a thomas i ragazzi riescono a scappare, ma non sanno cosa stanno per affrontare;infatti i creatori del labirinto li catturano per sottoperli a dei test ma loro scappano fino a che teresa, ragazza di cui thomas è follemente innamorato, li tradisce permettendo così al nemico di sottoporli a nuovi test per curare una malattia alla quale la loro generazione è immune.
