WHAT IS ANESSENTIAL OIL?
GLITTER PRESENTATION
+INFO
An essential oil is an aromatic liquid of fluid or thick appearance and of variable color depending on the plants from which it is extracted. It is segregated by special cells found in both the leaves (peppermint, basil linalol), as in the flowers (lavender, ylang ylang), the wood (Atlas cedar, white sandalwood), the roots (ginger, valerian, vetiver) or the seeds (cilantro, green aniseed, carrot). The size of these droplets is a few microns, which is why we can't see them.

WHAT IS AN ESSENTIAL OIL?
+INFO
Essential oils are chemical messengers that aromatic plants use tointeract with their environment. Essential oils allow disease andparasites to be removed, but they also have a protective role against the sun's rays.

HOW ARE ESSENTIALOILS OBTAINED?
There are several techniques that vary according to the part of the plant being treated, its fragility and its botanical characteristics:
The solvent extraction technique currently replaces that of enflorating.
EXTRACTION
The technique of enfloration (or maceration by saturation) is old and is hardly used today.
ENFLORATION
The technique of cold pressing is reserved for citrus peels (lemon, lime, sweet orange, bitter orange).
COLD PRESSING
Distillation by water vapour, or water vapour trawling, is the most common technique for obtaining essential oils.

QUALITATIVE CRITERIA OF AN ESSENTIAL OIL
There are many factors that come into play in the quality of essential oils. First, plant selection and harvest time are paramount: Plants must be botanically identified and come from wild, biological or traditional cultivation, without the use of pesticides or other chemicals. Plants should be grown on their native biotopes.
Essential oils are very complex and concentrated aromatic plant extracts. They can contain more than a hundred aromatic molecules in very variable proportions. It is these different combinations of molecules that give essential oils their particular properties and the cause of their characteristic odor.

HOW TO USEESSENTIAL OILS
GLITTER PRESENTATION
This use is indicated only under the prescription of your therapist. Essential oils are highly concentrated and when used incorrectly can lead to serious poisoning.
ORALLY
Essential oils penetrate very easily into the epidermis, then reach all tissues. For this reason, essential oils should be carefully chosen based on their skin compatibility.
THROUGH SKIN
USES OF ESSENTIAL OILS
With an electric diffuser, vaporizer or essences burner. This method allows very fine particles of essential oils to be propagated in the air and benefit from their effect through the respiratory tract.
AS AEROSOL
ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils have numerous medicinal properties that are common to them. They are effective against numerous different germs and viruses, as well as against fungi.
PROPERTIES OFESSENTIAL OILS
Always protected from light and in its original glass container. Keep away from any heat source as well. Essential oils are fragile and can be altered if stored incorrectly.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS
For the oral route, dilute the EO in a vegetable oil, in honey or in sugar (cane sugar syrup).
ORALLY
EOs are not hydrosoluble, therefore water should not be used as an excipient, vegetable oils, a cleaning base (shampoo, shower gel), alcohol or a neutral cream base are preferred.
VEGETABLE OILS
EO are highly concentrated plant extracts. Appropriate excipients should be used for all absorption pathways, especially for the oral route.
HIGH CONCENTRATION
The main uses of Essential Oils (EOs) include therapeutic care (oral, transcutaneous, cutaneous, pulmonary), therapeutic massage, cosmetic and hair care, balneotherapy, perfumery and gastronomy.

- Keep out of reach of children.- Never pour pure EO into the water, because used in this way can cause an irritation of the tissues.- Do not use in children under 3 years.- Certain EOs can be dangerous for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Avoid self-medication. Ask your aromatherapist doctor for advice..-Before use it is advisable to check the tolerance to EO by means of a test on the skin (apply on the inside of the wrist).- In case of accidental ingestion, ingest vegetable oil (from 1 to 3 tablespoons), do not cause vomiting. Never drink water.- All citrus essential oils are photosensitizing. Do not expose yourself to the sun for 12 hours after application or ingestion.
