The people of Dawson City, Canada, have a funny mayor! A 2-year-old Border Collie named Gus was elected mayor in October 2021. To help him, a parallel city council has also been put to the vote... It is made up exclusively of dogs. Its slogan was "Small dogs can also make a big difference". The election was open to all animals. The organizer Elaine Corden was opposed to the participation of cats. She thought they were more likely to become dictators. But it was refused. To register their pet, owners had to pay $10 to claim the title of mayor. The money received was donated to the Humane Society Dawson, a shelter that cares for abandoned animals. As far as I'm concerned, it's a good idea to show respect for animals.
