the Commonwealth
is a voluntary association of independent sovereign states, consulting and cooperating in the common interests of their peoples and in promotion of international understanding and world peace
There is 56 countries in the association with New Zealand It was created in 1926 at a Imperal conference
All countries are linked with their common language (English), history and culture
New zealand is an island country in the pacific next to Australia, it split in two parts, the north and the south and over 700 smaller islandsThe capital city is Wellington and there is almost 202 000 inabitants

In 2018, in total, there was 4 926 551 inabitants.
Bewteen 1280 and 1350, the island was colonized by Polynesian people
history
1642 : The first europeen person, Adel Tasman, a dutch explorer has discovered New Zealand, he was the first to explor and map a part of the island
1850 : New Zealand became a crown colony. To understand, a crown colony is a british colony whose legislation and administration was controled by the Crown, represented by a gouvernor
New Zealand was a crown colony (1841-1852) and after a self gouverning colony (1852-1907), the contrast is that they directed the country but they can't change the constitution, so they can do just minors things

- Treaty of Waitangi (1840) : It was a treaty to establish a British Governor of New Zealand, consider Māori ownership of their lands and other properties, and give Māori the rights of British subjects, new Zealand is officially a british colony.
- The constitution act (1986) : this text is a major part of New Zealand constitution, this act replaced the 1852 constitution act, which give to Britain to pass laws without the agreement of the New Zealand parliament
- The status of Wesminster act (1947) : this act gives to new Zealand, their independance, the country is not a British colony but a country in the Commonwealth of nation.

Since 1992, New Zealand has been involved in many activities in Commonwealth : - 2018 : The secretariat of the Commonwealth helped New Zealand parliments to share lessons about humains rights in the Pacific
- 2019 : New Zealand worked with the Commonwealth to improve connections with trading partners
- 2022 : New Zealand contribued to 3 millions dollars to the Commonwealth secretariat and 2 millions dollars to the Commonwealth organizations
