ECUADOR, A BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH
GRAPHIC REPRESENTATIONS OF THE TERRITORY
Maps are graphic representations of wide-open places like provinces, countries, and continents. Maps also provide information about the natural elements of a territory, such as mountains, rivers, and even the vegetation they possess. Maps also show other elements like the changes that mankind has made on the territory, for example, cities, bridges, and roads. . Maps provide information about the place that they represent, and they contain the following elements:
MAPS
Maps work in a similar way to a plan. They contain elements: title, key, scale, conventional symbols, and source. They also include the names of natural places such as mountain ranges, plains, valleys, rivers and the names of cities, villages, roads, etc.

TITLE:
There are many different types of maps to show different types of information. Some of them are described below.
A map is a “small” drawing of a territory which respects the proportions. The scale shows us the number of times the surface was reduced.
SCALE:
These are representations of the different features found on the earth’s surface: cities, capitals, boundaries, roads, etc. Color is one of the most used symbols. In physical maps, mountain ranges and mountains are colored brown; the darker the brown the higher the altitude of the region or mountain. Plains are colored green. Rivers, seas, oceans, and lakes are in blue. Snowcapped mountains are in white.
SYMBOLS:
KEY:
This is the box where it is indicated what the symbols used on the map mean.
ORIENTATION:
In some maps, a compass appears, in others, only an arrow pointing to the north. From these symbols, you can know how the map is oriented.
Our country is located in the American Continent, in the northern part of South America. Part of its territory is located in the northern hemisphere and the other part in the southern hemisphere.
