AGENDA 2030
INTRODUCTION
poverty and hunger
poverty and hunger have always accompanied the entire uman kind throughout the history. Especially hunger was always there, even a lot of time before the man was considered the most intelligent among all the species. Above all poverty is a theme very common in this times, mostly in the less developed country.
POVERTY AND FOOD SECURITY
The fact that poverty and hunger are a problem, wasn't discovered recently, indeed Charls Dickens among all the writers was the first to denounce the atrocity that were made inside the workhouses(the institutions that administered public charity, founded with The Poor Law of 1834). In this places conditions were harsh as possible in order to discurage the poor from relying on public charity. As then, nowday poverty and food insecurity are a central theme between the 17 goal of the Agenda 2030. Especially poverty is very dangerous as it can create a vicious cycle that can potentially destroy your life irrevocably, as a matter of fact even in the most devoloped country a lot of people die every year from hunger and as a result of bad hygienic conditions. After seeing the graphics and the data provided us by the United Nation(UN) about these topics, we can tell that our society can still do much better for the world and for every inhabitants of the Earth.

As Oliver Twist(protagonist of the omonimous novel), a lot of child didn't had any opportunity to change their life for the better because of a society that doesn't invest in the future of the youngest, who still today somewhere in Asia or Africa are being exploited for the greed of the human kind. I hope and i believe in a future where nobody, and in particular no child, has to soffer extreme poverty or any type of food disorder. However hopes and dreams can't do anything by itself, there is the need of our intervention!
Oliver an example for all of us!

End poverty in all its forms everywhere
GOAL-1

Page 2
The first main target of this goal is: - By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day. Since 2019, 70 million more people were pushed back into extreme poverty - currently defined as those who live on less than $2.15 per person per day at 2017 purchasing power parity. The rate increased from 8.5% in 2019 to 9.3% in 2020. By the end of 2022, nowcasting suggests 8.4% of the world population or as many as 670 million people could still be living in extreme poverty today and that the figure will drop to 575 million by 2030 – a fall of less than 30% since 2015.

The second main target of this goal is: - Implement nationally appropriate social protection systems and measures for all, including floors, and by 2030 achieve substantial coverage of the poor and the vulnerable. By 2020, only 47% of the global population was effectively covered by at least one social protection cash benefit, slightly improved from 45% in 2015. Only 26% of children under 15 received a social protection benefit; only one in three persons with severe disabilities worldwide receive a disability benefit; only 35% of workers are covered in case of work injury; and only 18.6% of unemployed workers worldwide are effectively covered.
no poverty
Social assistance/Social safety net programs are non-contributory transfers in cash or in-kind and are usually targeted at the poor and vulnerable. Some programs are focused on improving chronic poverty or providing equality of opportunity; others more on protecting families from shocks and longstanding losses they can inflict for the unprotected poor. These programs also known as social safety net programs or social welfare, include cash transfers (conditional and unconditional), in-kind transfers, such as school feeding and targeted food assistance, and near cash benefits such as fee waivers and food vouchers. Poverty has a lot of face, so we have to fight it in many ways in order solve it and is also for this reason that we talk about multidimensional poverty.

what is the social assistance?
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increase in the number of people living in extreme poverty, for the first time in a generation(with 90 million more people living in extreme poverty than the year before). Progress in important areas, such as childhood vaccination and income equality between countries has been reversed, which has not happened in the past three decades. By 2030 we could be still very far from obtain Zero poverty in the world.

a little setback
Our active engagement in policymaking can make a difference in addressing poverty. It ensures that our rights are promoted and that our voice is heard, that inter-generational knowledge is shared, and that innovation and critical thinking are encouraged at all ages to support transformational change in people’s lives and communities. And the science? The contribution of science to end poverty has been significant. For example, it has enabled access to safe drinking water, reduced deaths caused by water-borne diseases, and improved hygiene to reduce health risks related to unsafe drinking water and lack of sanitation.

What can we do about it?
The first main target of this goal are: -By 2030, end all forms of malnutrition, including achieving, by 2025, the internationally agreed targets on stunting and wasting in children under 5 years of age, and address the nutritional needs of adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women and older persons. By 2022, approximately 735 million people – or 9.2% of the world's population – found themselves in a state of chronic hunger – a staggering rise compared to 2019. This data underscores the severity of the situation, revealing a growing crisis. In addition, an estimated 2.4 billion people faced moderate to severe food insecurity in 2022. This classification signifies their lack of access to sufficient nourishment. This number escalated by an alarming 391 million people compared to 2019.

Goal 2
Zero Hunger
data chart
The second main target of this goal is: -Increase investment, including through enhanced international cooperation, in rural infrastructure, agricultural research and extension services, technology development and plant and livestock gene banks in order to enhance agricultural productive capacity in developing countries, in particular least developed countries. Shockingly, the world is back at hunger levels not seen since 2005, and food prices remain higher in more countries than in the period 2015–2019. Along with conflict, climate shocks, and rising cost of living, civil insecurity and declining food production have all contributed to food scarcity and high food prices. Investment in the agriculture sector is critical for reducing hunger and poverty, improving food security, creating employment and building resilience to disasters and shocks.

Zero Hunger
We can make changesin our own life—at home, at work and in the community—by supporting local farmers or markets and making sustainable food choices, supporting good nutrition for all, and fighting food waste. we can also use our power as consumers and voters, demanding businesses and governments to make the choices and changes that will make Zero Hunger a reality.
