Why should teachers try flipped learning?
At home learning
In-Class Activities
Builds independence
Reusable Content
Using the flipped learning model eliminates in-class lectures and frees more time up for engaging and hands on in-class activities.
An advantage for teachers is that lecture videos created for flipped learning activities can be used over and over again each year. While this is a lot of work on the front end to create the videos, it will save teachers time exponentially later on.
Students learning in a flipped learning model learn most major concepts through lecture-type videos at home. This instills a sense of independence in them as they navigate the content themselves.
The flipped learning model allows students who have been absent to catch up easily at home.
There is more time for the instructor to work one-on-one with students to deepen their understanding of the topic in-class.
