The NAF must be obtained electronically by the interested party through the submission of a request addressed to the Social Security, requesting the assignment of a NAF
1. What is the Social Security Affiliation Number (NAF)?: is the number assigned by the Social Security Administration to any person who is going to start a work activity that determines their inclusion in a regime of the Social Security System. 

2. Why it is needed for?: It is mandatory for those persons included in the System for the purposes of rights and obligations in its contributory modality.

3. The NAF number is the same as the NUSS?: No. While the NUSS number is only available to persons residing in Spain and appears on the citizen's health card, the NAF number is only available to those who are registered with the Social Security as contributing citizens.
