Ten years. That’s how long it took to them to admit they couldn’t live without each other.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
This piece deals with two friends in the Victorian age. They both have a double identity, for example Earnest is Jack imaginary double (he is supposed to be Jack's brother) and Bunbury is Algernon. They're doing this to escape their responsibility or to move to town how often they want but this will create confusion. Thanks to their friendship they meet the love of their life: Celily is Jack's ward and Gwendolen is Algernon's cousin. But in fact, the two girls concerned love a man called Earnest. Moreover, this man proposed to them. Earnest was in fact Algernon when he asked Cecily to marry him and a few days before, Earnest was Jack when he asked Gwendolen to marry him.

PRIDE AN PREJUDICE, Mr Collins
In a small village in England, during the reign of George III, Mrs. Bennet wants to marry her daughters to ensure a serene future.
The extract from the movie Pride and Prejudice was directed by Joe Wright in 2005 and deals with the encounter between Elithabeth and Mr. Collins. He’s Elisabeth’s cousin and is going to inherit her father's estate. The Bonnet family is having breakfast and the mother asks everyone to leave so she knows what is going to happen which suggests an arranged marriage. Mr. Colin build his proposal in 3 main parts. His arguments are that it is his duty as a clergyman to set the example of matrimony in his parish, that it would add greathly to his happiness and that his patroness Lady Catherine urged him to select a wife. He seems very academic and his proposal isn’t romantic at all. These are the proof that marriage during this era is not about love.

Love through the ages
For millennia, humans were most likely to marry and raise kids with members of their own tribe. The girls could not choose their husband on their own and it was their family who chose for them: love wasn’t at all a priority and was not sought in marriage.
For example during the Victorian era (1837-1901), a young woman was not expected to focus too obviously on finding a husband. Being « forward » in the company of men suggested a worrying sexual appetite. They were not even supposed to speak to men unless they were married women present as chaperone.

1950
In 1950 came the rise of meeting “friends of friends” and that methode stayed dominant through the rest of the century. During this time from 1950 to 2000, girls have gained new rights which had an impact on marriages, for example: the matrimonial freedom, the right to contraception,... Those rights changed the vision of marriage and the family has gradually lost its impact on marriages and the relationships of their children.

THE USA’S NEW ROMANTIC LANDSCAPEThis article called The USA’s new romantic landscape is written by Chris Taylo the 13 of february 2019. The figure given in the article shows that due to these dating apps , the number of same-sex as well as opposite sex marriages has surged since the early 2000s. It makes it easier for people to meet for short-lived relationships but also long-live relationships. When it comes to match-making, they have become irreplaceable and it’s now commonplace to find a partner online. Online dating has made it easier for people to engage in interracial relationships and it has made it possible to bridge the gap between people who would never have met. To conclude, dating apps can have a lot of good points as it is said above but we can wonder if the love dating made thanks to internet are as romantic as those of the old generations. If dating apps continue to evolve, dating could lose their authenticity and originality. It may well be that future dating is less and less diversified.
