Pilgrim Theatre

All upper school assemblies and house events will be held in our fabulous, custom-built Pilgrim Theatre. The space lends itself to periods of quiet reflection, and contemplation. The 180-seat theatre also hosts drama and music productions which benefit from tiered seating, a large screen and surround sound speakers.

Our Chaplaincy

Within the St Cuthbert's building, you will find our Chaplaincy, nestled between our art rooms, tech room, textiles, business, computing, languages and food rooms. Placed within the heart of the school, our Chaplaincy provides a quiet place of refuge, prayer, reflection and celebration. Our students know that they are always welcome, at any time.

We take pride in our school

As well as our fabulous site staff, we also have teachers and students who volunteer on a daily basis to help maintain our beautiful school site. We have a gardening club, and daily volunteers to help remove any litter.

Sports Facilities

Students at St Bede's enjoy our fantastic sports facilities. These include a sports hall, a gym suite with fitness equipment, a gym, 5-a-side football pitches, tennis courts, basketball hoops and outdoor gym equipment. On top of all of this, we are extremely lucky to have a very large school playing field, complete with rugby, hockey and football pitches, with a running track in summer months.

Large, equipped playground

We have marked out 5 pitches on the playground, all with sets of goals, so that all students can enjoy sports during break time. We also host football House competitions during the first half term - it's very popular! We also have Techball tables, basketball hoops, and outdoor tabletennis and gym equipment.

Bicycle Racks

Many of our students will cycle to school. Each year group has their own designated cycle area to securely park their bikes. We ask all students to walk their bikes while entering and leaving the school site.

Outdoor Chess

We have some very enthusiastic and accomplished chess players within St Bede's! In addition to our weekly chess clubs and house competitions, we also have a large, outdoor chess set.

Outdoor Dining

Each year group has their own, designated outdoor seating areas. The year 11 outdoor area (pictured) has a large canopy. All other year group areas have outdoor dining tables with canopies (during summer months).

School Library

We are very lucky to have a fabulous library, stacked with all the latest books. Students love spending time in our library and you will often find there are no spare seats during break and lunch. Outside of break times, every English group will spend 30 minutes per week silently reading during an English lesson. Additionally, homework club runs after school, every Tuesday to Thursday.

Main School Hall

Our fabulous school hall is used for lower school assemblies, after-school events and is the main queueing area for our fabulous canteen during break and lunchtimes.
