It is defined as the Englihs used since the fifteenth century. Although, it divides in 2 periods of time. Early Modern Period and Late Modern English.

- Early Modern Period (1450-1800)
- Late Modern English (1800-Present)
- 1.5 billion speakers.
Basically, we refer to the earliest form of english language, the one written and spoken in England before the twelfth century..
WHAT IS OLD ENGLISH?
- From c. 450 CE until c. 1150
- Written in Anglo-Saxon
- Amounts to barely 3 million words.
- Was still used after the Norman Conquest.
Is really dificult to identify the period of time that it was spoken, and that's because it is a time of trasition between to eras: Old English and Modern English
Middle English
CARACERISTICS:
- This period started with the Norman conquest in 1066 and ended in the fifteenth century
- Period of roughly 300 years
- Duringt this period it was add to the language Franche and Greek
The language which English belogns to is known as the Indo-European (IE) from which derive is called Proto-Indo-European.
