1. The 5 senses .
INDEX
the 5 senses
All the senses give information about our body and the environment to the brain.
ViDEO
Our eyes are the organs of sight. We can see different shapes, sizes and colours.
Sight
Our ears are the organs of hearing. We can hear loud and quiet sounds.
Hearing
Our nose is the organ we use to smell. Air enters the nose through the nostrils.
Smell
Our tongue is the organ we use to taste. We can identify 4 basic tastes: sweet, salty, bitter and sour.
Taste
Our skin is the organ we use to touch. It is the largest organ in the human body!
Touch
information
Our bodies work thanks to all the information that we receive from the 5 senses. The 5 senses send the information to the nervous system.
How do our bodies work?
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nervous system controls everything you do. The nervous system is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The most important part is the brain. This organ is inside your head and is protected by the skull. The brain receives messages from our senses, analyse the information and gives instructions to the body. The nerves send the instructions to the different parts of the body.

THE LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM
The locomotor system controls your movements. It is made up of bones, joints and muscles. Our locomotor system helps us move, eat and speak. Bones are hard and rigid. They make up the skeleton, that support our body. Muscles are elastic and flexible organs. They help us move. Joints they connect bones. For example: hip, knee, wrist, shoulder, ankle, elbow…

THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
The circulatory system it is like a transport system. The heart pumps blood that carries nutrients from the food we eat and oxygen from the air we breathe, around the body. It is made up of the heart, blood and blood vessels (veins and arteries).

THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
It’s made up of the nose, mouth, the trachea, the bronchi and the lungs. They work together to help us breathe. 1.We breathe in air with oxygen through our nose and mouth. 2.The air goes down the trachea, through the bronchi into our 2 lungs. 3.Oxygen is passed to the circulatory system (blood), where it moves around the body. 4.We breathe out air full of carbon dioxide.
