Now, let's look at some examples together.

We use the present simple tense when we want to talk about fixed habits or routines – things that don't change. We use the present continuous to talk about actions which are happening at the present moment, but will soon finish.

It rarely rains in desert.

They go swimming every summer.

Karen doesn't watch TV.

My dad works in an office.

We are working so hard.

I'm watching a movie right now.

She is reading a newspaper upstairs.

He isn't crying.

A woman entered the room.

I didn't want to do it.

She was working.

We were cleaning the house all morning.

He wasn't listening.

I woke up early this morning.

I broke my leg.
