DEVELOPMENTAL THEORIES OF DELINQUENCY BY CHERICE BROWN CRIME AND DELINQUENCY

THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL TOO FAR FROM THE TREE THEORY
elements of my theory

When certain traits are heritable, meaning a trait is more influenced genetically then environments. Traits that lead to criminality are somewhat heritable, and additionally when exposed from a young age of criminal behavior in the household from family members, they are even more likely to engage in it themselves. Genetic studies are limited because they cannot determine which specific genetic factors lead to behavioral differences. Many genes can disrupt normal development, resulting in abnormal behavior. To find out which genes could be related to antisocial and criminal behavior, scientists have conducted molecular genetic studies.

Propensity Theory :1. People have a master trait: personality, intelligence, genetic makeup. 2. People do not change; delinquent opportunities change; maturity brings fewer opportunities. 3. Early social control and proper parenting can reduce delinquent propensity.

LEARNED BEHAVIOR FROM PARENT-A case that became a tabloid spectacle when high-priced prostitutes testified in support of a father-and-son pimp team from Pennsylvania ended Monday with the pair being sentenced to three to nine years in prison. Prosecutors had sought a harsher sentence for Vincent George Sr. and Vincent George Jr., who were convicted by a judge last month of money laundering and promoting prostitution but acquitted of more serious sex-trafficking charges.

Propensity Theory

Propensity Theory 1. People have a master trait: personality, intelligence, genetic makeup. 2. People do not change; delinquent opportunities change; maturity brings fewer opportunities. 3. Early social control and proper parenting can reduce delinquent propensity.

Behavioral Theory- The Elements of my Theory The behavioral theory focuses solely on a person’s behaviors rather than the feelings that go alongside those behaviors. It suggests that behaviors are conditioned in an environment due to certain stimuli. Behavioral theorists believe that behavior determines feelings, so changing behaviors is important because this will in turn change feelings. If from young age to adult all a child was succumbed to was violence and poverty, I believe they are more likely to mimic the same behaviors.

The County Attorney said, We can’t take the place of parents, and there’s a lot of repsonsiblity there,” he said. “And usually in these cases of some young person that’s never had any guardrails or no holds on them from a family perspective to keep them from doing what they’re doing... In my years in being involved in this kind of work, it’s something we’ve never quite seen. As it continues to grow and that’s something we’ve got to find answers for

My Theory avoids some of the criticism that have been made of the Gluecks and EriksoN'S THEORY because they don't mention simply by absorbing and seeing this volatile behavior all of their childhoods they are likely to mimic LEADING TO DELINQUENCY, INTO ADULTHOOD.
