history of conquest

During the first half of the sixteenth century the Spanish, starting to conquer the American continent. The superiority in war technology and the devastating impact that epidemics imported by Europeans have on hitherto isolated populations cause the rapid collapse of vast and populated empires, such as the Aztec one in Central America and the Inca one in South America.

A new world born five centuries ago America was named in honor of explorer Amerigo Vespucci, who first understood that the new lands were a new continent. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, America was considered by European explorers and conquerors as a 'new world' for the things never seen on this continent.

distinguish the America in two parts: America South, south of the isthmus of Darién, and America North and Central. ° North America, which includes Canada, the United States and Mexico, in addition to Greenland; Central America, between the Mexican Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Isthmus of Panama and Darién. °South America, south of the Isthmus of Panama.

The territory of North America was colonized by the European powers between '500 and '700. The United Kingdom occupied the Atlantic coast, but in the 1860s the British colonies came into conflict with the British, which had burdened the inhabitants with excessive taxes and restrained their commercial initiatives. Attempts at accommodation failed, and in 1775 a revolution began known as the War of Independence.

Many people have inhabited this territory, but today most of its population is of European origin and America resembles Europe more than any other continent. The Americans of British and Spanish origin are the most numerous, but also communities from other European countries and Asia are in large numbers.

After the capitulation of Germany, in the face of the continuation of the war in the Pacific by Japan, the United States, used for the first time the atomic bomb against the two cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (6 and 9 August 1945). After those devastating bombings, the conflict ended. And a new era of international relations began, in which the United States had to play a decisive role at world level.
