Holiness:

All around the Church we visited there were beautiful and colorful stained glass windows. Many churches are recognizable for these windows and they serve a purpose to highlight the stories from the Bible to teach the scripture and give reminders of their beliefs. This shows they choose to display their holy text.

Stained Glass

At the mosque, our tour guide pointed out that they included a free clinic at thier site so that anyone who doesn't have insurance can still be helped and with no cost. Our guide said that this is because they believe the best act of worship is doing anything to benefit others. This relates to the Islamic worldviews as they believe that when you give to others you will be rewarded in paradise and it also creates community which preserves Islam.

Free Clinic

The mosque we visited included a wash area so they can perform the Islamic cleaning procedure, wudu. This is when one washes their face and limbs before praying to remove any spiritual and physical impurity. If one were to not wash before prayer, the prayer is not valid because they would not be purified.

Wudu

At the Church we visited they had their baptismal font at the front of the church and it is used for Baptism as it is a sacrament performed in Christianity involving water as people are sprinkled or immersed in it. It signifies purity as it cleanses their previous sins so they may have a clean slate to live a life with Christ.

Baptism

At the church we visited they displayed the churches values on the back wall in large print. This emphasizes the Chrisitan value of "joyful generostity" as they prioritize giving because God gave up his only Son for them so they respond to his generosity by being generous to others.

Offerings and Giving to Others

The church also incorperated offerings into thier services which is when people place money in a dish that is passed around. The money is given to the church so that the word of God can be spread and also so the Church may donate it to others in need.

Throughout the prayer room at the mosque there are writings and geometric designs, such as the carpet, instead of images of animals or humans. This is because they reject all forms of idolatry and so they avoid any statues or pictures of living beings as to not worship them. By using geometric designs instead, they are expressing values writen in the Quran that remind them not to divert anything from God.
