Objectives
Perhaps the great understatement of our time is that technology is changing rapidly. According to a report by EY, 90% of business workers reported that their organizations are already using some form of generative AI (genAI). Unfortunately, educational systems usually change slower than most other systems in the world. Despite this mismatched change rate, higher education teachers and administrators can set their own pace by taking control of their learning and implementation of new technology systems. So while higher education professionals may have some time before the required implementation of genAI tools, learning more about genAI cannot wait and should start now.

Introduction
Introduction
Many professors find themselves staring into the jungle of resources about technological tools for education, especially genAI. Systems exist now where anyone in the world can create their own genAI assistants, create digital art, and even create video with just a few lines of text. Some professors are excited about genAI while others have debilitating AI anxiety, AI anxiety for anyone is understandable, after all, even Bill Gates was uncertain about genAI. Regardless of where professors find themselves on the genAI acceptance spectrum, there is no doubt that genAI is here to stay.

Introduction
Introduction
Before exploring these educational materials, take time for some personal reflection about your approach to genAI technology in general, and your goals as an educator. This reflection will help you stay focused on your learning, rather than succumbing to the overwhelming amount of information that is available. Generally, the creators of genAI think that for educators the benefits of these tools will greatly outweigh the drawbacks. With that fact in mind, the goal of these materials is to provide a basic understanding of what genAI is, explore areas that might apply to your context, and provide suggestions for how you can make genAI work for you. As you take these important steps towards educating yourself about genAI, we hope that your anxiety will dissipate and that you can find a place for these tools in your classroom.
