Prokaryotes are a part of 2 domains:

• Domain Bacteria

• Domain Archaea

Domain Archaea

• These are some of the oldest organisms we know of
• They live in extreme conditions where most other life cannot survive
• They are not pathogenic
• They are prokaryotes, but they aren't true "bacteria"!
• Which is why they are their own domain.

Domain Bacteria

• These are the bacteria we think of.
• They live in a variety of environmental conditions
• They can be beneficial
• They can be pathogenic
