Since 2016, Focal has been manufacturing passive (wired) hi-fi headphones in France. We have developed our own loudspeaker technology for headphones, our patented technology is the result of our extensive experience in designing hi-fi loudspeakers for over 40 years. After the first open headphones presented in 2016 (Utopia & Elear), we manufactured our closed-back headphones, Elegia and Stellia, were introduced in 2018 using the same technology as our open-back headphones, Utopia and Elear, which were released in 2016 to meet market demand.
