Recently with more people confiding in me with welfare concerns I have gained a stronger sense of purpose in the club + illustrates the importance of my role - It makes me happy that people feel confident talking to me - gain a lot of joy knowing I've helped people become happier at the end of sessions - has helped me to gain more connections in the club, helping to further improve my role as the welfare officer

why i am running !

equal opportunities + inclusion

- Derwent BAME rep 2023 - held events where people of colour could meet and get to know each other - was a friendly face for derwent freshers - helped freshers who were struggling with being a minority in York

Events

- attended college throughout the year - attended beginners sessions at the start of the year to make myself known - welfare sessions through both beginners sessions so they still had the option to attend beginners and a drop in - stayed behind after trainings and games to listen to welfare concerns -> willing to sacrifice time + prioritise

- taught me a lot about patience and empathy - taught me about how real people think - anxious cycles - people are unique in their thought processes, ability to adapt to each individual is required - taught me a bit more about conflict resolution - often times people won't come to talk about stuff when they are upset -> balance
