Story Mapping
A coaching and cultural diagnostic tool to unfold meaning making of salient identity content within our work place ecosystem.
Designed by Kristin Hoins Ed.D.
Departing: What does closure to moments, meetings, projects, jobs look, feel, and sound like? How are departures designed and experienced?
Inviting: How were you invited to this role (e.g., recruitment, promotion, referral)? What communication methods were used? What do the implicit/explicit, formal/informal, public/private cues say to you?
Entering: What did your arrival look, sound and feel like? What practices were used or not used to welcome, open the space, and set context for your role and personhood?
Enacting: How does engagement and participation happen? What do you have and what do you need to enact your role?
Dancing: How do I/We adapt and dance in the moment? How do I/we show up for celebration and challenge? Where am I able to be adaptive and flexible?
Discovering: Where is the sandbox? What creative spaces are available? What practices open larger landscapes of possibility?
Repairing: How do mistakes get framed and talked about? Are there ways to address assumptions and misunderstandings? What repairs are within one’s locus of control?
Reflecting: What identity intersections and negotiations are being experienced? How does context change the content of the identity negotiations?
Recovering: What individual and collective practices are used for recovering back to self; recovering after internal and/or collective disruption?
Dissenting: Can you/we speak y/our mind, set healthy boundaries, disrupt productively? Can the context hold varying opinions and perspectives? What conditions and resources are needed?
Reciprocating: How does reciprocity, partnership, or mutualism happen? What does this look, feel, and sound like?
Contributing: What are the opportunities to contribute and share knowledge, understanding, and skills? How do you know you’re contributing and making an impact?
