Introduction:

Environmental degradation poses a global threat. In this presentation we're going to talk about its causes, impacts and potential solutions.

Climate change is the major variation of average weather conditions becoming, for example, warmer, wetter, or drier over several decades or longer due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas.

Climate Cahnge:

Effects:

  • Loss of biodiversity.

The Earth's surface temperature now stands approximately 1.1 ºC higher than in the late 1800s, surpassing any point in the last 100,000 years.

Climate change:

  • More Severe storms;
  • Hotter temperatures;
  • A warming and rising of the ocean;
  • Incresead Drought;

Deforestation is the destruction of forests so that the land can be used for other purposes, while forest degradation is a more gradual process related to unsustainable harvesting methods that cause a loss of the forests' production capacity.

Deforestation:

Deforestation: (Causes)

  • Industrial agriculture;
  • Urbanization;
  • Wood exploitation;
  • Climate Change;

Pollution:

Pollution is an environmental degradation that causes harmful effects to the environment and the living organisms that develop there. Pollution can be caused by humans, but also due to natural processes.

  1. Diseases;
  2. Destruction of the Ozone layer;
  3. Biodiversity Loss;
  4. Shortage of raw materials;
  5. Climate change and global warming;

Effects

  1. Global Warming;
  2. Deforestation;
  3. Industrial, agricultural and livestock activities;
  4. Garbage and sewage;
  5. Fossil Fuel.

Causes

Biodiversity Loss:

Biodiversity loss refers to the decline or disappearance of biological diversity (Variety of living organisms that inhabit the planet.

  1. Extinction of species;
  2. Threat to human beings;
  3. Proliferation of pests;
  4. Increase of CO2 emissions;

Effects

  1. Climate Change;
  2. Pollution;
  3. Destruction of habitats;
  4. Invasive species;
  5. Overexploitaition of the natural environment.

Causes

Solutions:(Climate change)

  • Promotion of sustainable agricultural practices and reduction of deforestation.
  • Investment in carbon capture and storage technologies.
  • Transition to renewable energies, such as solar and wind.

Solutions:(Deforestation)

  • Investment in reforestation and ecosystem restoration programs.
  • Support and promotion of sustainable agricultural practices that do not involve deforestation.
  • Implementation of strict laws and regulations to protect forests.

Solutions:(Pollution)

  • Encouraging the use of efficient and low-carbon public transportation, such as electric trains and buses, can reduce air pollution caused by individual transportation.
  • Investing in clean energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric, can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Solutions:(Biodiversity Loss)

  • Establishing more protected areas and nature reserves where human activities are limited or controlled, allowing wildlife and ecosystems to regenerate.
  • Protecting and restoring natural ecosystems, such as forests, oceans, wetlands, and savannah areas, helps preserve biological diversity.

Recycling:

Recycling involves collecting waste materials, processing or manufacturing them into new products, and purchasing these products, which can then be recycled again.

Recycling:(Types)

  • Waste Paper and Cardboard;
  • Plastic;
  • Metal;
  • Eletronic devices;
  • Wood;
  • Glass.

In one hand a vegetarian does not eat any animal meat, poultry or fish in the other hand vegan is a stricter vegetarian who also avoids consuming dairy, eggs, and any other ingredients derived from animals

Veganism and Vegetarianism:

Types of vegetarianism:

Veganism and Vegetarianism:

  • Lacto-ovo vegetarian;
  • Lacto vegetarian;
  • Ovo vegetariam;
  • Vegan.

Veganism is more than just a diet choice. While both vegetarians and vegans may choose to avoid animal products for similar reasons, the decision to embrace veganism typically extends beyond diet

Conclusion:

Even though the world is in a dire situation due to pollution and other human-made issues, we are the only ones who can prevent its demise. To make this happen, we must act now and strive to improve the health of our planet.
