RADA
If I were to attend RADA (Royal Academy of Drama Art) I would be looking to take a BA (Hons) Acting course. It would be an undergraduate program and as this course may primarily focus on stage acting, it also includes training in screen acting techniques. If deciding to go to this Drama School you would obtain a new skill such as on-camera acting. You can also develop your knowledge by understanding the difference between on stage acting and screen acting. For this particular course it would be £9,250 per year for UK students so for 3 years on the course would add up to a total of 27,750. There is also an application fee for the course that is £39, which covers the cost of processing and progressing individual applications that are sent. If you apply and don't get in or change your mind about not wanting to go anymore, too bad there is no refunds available. If you do not have financial stability or are struggling somewhat financially you may be offered fee waivers or discounts for said applicants.

Today I’m going to be talking about three drama schools I would like to explore in the future. I’m going to start off with RADA as it is a world leading drama arts training school, transforming the next generation of talent through their vocational training for actors, stage managers, designers and technical stagecraft specialists.
For RADA...
What's the audition process?
The audition process at RADA is rigorous and designed to assess applicants' talent, potential, and suitability for the programs that are offered. Firstly, before scheduling an audition applicants must submit an application requiring information like supporting materials, such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a PERSONAL STATEMENT. Anyone that qualified would be invited to attend an audition. Prior to the audition, applicants are required to prepare a contemporary monologue aswell as 2 shakespeare monologues. The day would start off with a warm up where you are being assessed even if told otherwise and you would then move on to performing prepared monologues or scenes in front of a panel of auditioners, which may include faculty members, alumni, and industry professionals. The panel evaluates applicants' acting skills, emotional range, physicality, and stage presence. Applicants may then be interviewed by members of the audition panel to discuss their background, experience, artistic influences, and reasons for applying to RADA. This provides an opportunity for applicants to articulate their passion for the performing arts and demonstrate their suitability for the program. You would be told to stick around for the afternoon if you have made it through to round 2. I couldn't really find much information about the rest of the rounds. Finally, After the audition, applicants may receive feedback from the audition panel and are typically notified of the outcome of their audition within a few weeks. Successful applicants may receive offers of admission, while others may be placed on a waiting list or advised to reapply in the future.
But only 28 students are accepted by RADA each year for the BA (Hons) Acting Course.

The open days include a variety of activities such as: presentations, tours of the campus, sample classes or workshops, Q&A sessions with faculty and current students, and opportunities to view student performances or exhibitions. For prospective students I recommend preparing questions in advance to ask during the open day, such as queries about specific courses, facilities or the application process as a whole.

What do you need to prepare for an audition?
For the Rose Bruford audition, candidates are required to prepare a contemporary monologue along with a contrasting one. Previously, one of these monologues had to be from Shakespeare, but the criteria have been expanded to allow selections from any period starting from the 1960s. When submitting audition videos, they should be limited to 90 seconds in length. Those progressing to the second round, usually around Easter time, will be invited back for an acting course. During this session, candidates participate in both morning and afternoon workshops, including movement and voice exercises. Additionally, they will present their monologues to acting tutors, who will provide feedback and guidance. Current students may also be involved in collaborative exercises. Candidates who advance to the third round will attend another session, where they participate in an improvisation workshop and work on a provided piece of dialogue. This stage assesses their ability to collaborate and adapt in a group setting. Finally, there will be an interview component to further evaluate the candidate's suitability for the program.

Personal Statement
I'm studying a UAL Level 3 Diploma in Performing and production arts at City & islington College. I would like to study the Acting Course at Rose Bruford College or RADA mainly. In our course we frequently have people from outside the course, that come in and teach us various skills. Recently Marlon Wallen from the Dance group 'Flawless' paid us a visit and taught us a movement piece. This developed my eye-hand coordination and helped me be more in sync with my body whilst dancing. In my course I’ve learnt how to work with an ensemble we’ve done a lot of activities to do with working together like improvising different scenes this helped me develop coming up with ideas much quicker on the spot. This is good for performing arts as there’s some points in time where you need to improvise for example if somebody messes up there lines on stage being able to move past it with improvisation. It is key so it doesn’t look like there was any hiccups on stage. I’ve been to PQA for acting experience before I came to the college for around 2 years and expanded my information with new knowledge. I want to learn more about on screen acting and how different is to theatre as we have done a lot of theatre. My main goal is to be on screen so it would be good to get into an acting course which contains all the necessary information. I enjoy athletics as well as doing stunts so I think stage combat would be something I could also go and study progressing onto drama school. The skills I think I have would be collaborative skills, I’m very outspoken, confident and really eager to lean. I’m good at vocalising my voice and articulating my words. I have a deep love for acting and see myself doing it in the future as well as having good skills I definitely have a lot more to learn and am very open minded to learning new techniques and things to get better at/improve on
