The fire on this mask represents how Ralph would build fires to see if someone would rescue them, and also to make food. An example would be “‘We got to let that burn out now. And that was our firewood.” He licked his lips. “There ain‘t nothing we can do. We ought to be more careful. I’m scared—’”

The pig on the mask is there because at the beginning of the story Ralph decided to protect the pig, instead of killing it. For example Ralph states “‘ So long as your hunters remember the fire—‘ this evidence shows Ralph is more focused on getting rescued, and keeping the fire alive than hunting. By telling Jacks hunters that they can hunt but they have to focus more on the fire.

The conch represents Ralph as a chief the conch in the novel the Lord of the Flies the conch shows civilization and leader ship through the book. Ralph states “‘Then I’ll give him the conch’ — That’s what the shell is called I’ll give the conch to the next person to speak‘” this shows that at the beginning there was civilization and rules to follow.

The Palm trees tell us the time when Ralph would walk on the beach and he even found the conch on there. For example Golding explains “The tide was coming in and there was only a narrow strip of firm beach between the water and the white, stumbling stuff near the palm terrace. Ralph chose this firm strip as a path because he needed to think, and only here could he allow his feet to move without having to watch them.”

Piggy’s broken glasses represent the time when Ralph took piggy’s glasses and but them under the light to make the fire this was important throughout the book because they made may fires afterward. ”From his left hand dangled Piggy’s broken glasses” this shows that Piggy could be in danger from not being able to see.

The moon and the darkness of the sky shows us that bad things happen at night. the boys ask “‘Can you see anything?’ ’There—‘ In front of them, only three or four yards away, was a rock - like hump where no rock should be” this creates curiosity over the boys and also create foreshadowing.
