Chickenpox, otherwise known as varicella, is caused by the varicella-zoster virus. This highly contagious disease that affects children,mostly, but can happen at any other age.You first get it on your face ,chest and back and then it spreads to your whole body.It normally comes at age 3-6

Chicken pox is highly contagious. To both adults and children. It is most common in children. It's better to catch chicken pox earlier on than in adulthood. Why? Because the severity worsens.

SYMPTOMS

The main symptom of chickenpox is an itchy, spotty rash that can appear anywhere on the body. The rash goes through three stages:

• Small red spots initially appear.

• These spots fill with fluid and become blisters, which are intensely itchy.

• Eventually, the blisters form scabs as they heal.

PATHOLOGY

You can catch chickenpox by being in the same room as someone with it. It's also spread by touching things that have fluid from the spots on them. It can spread through coughing and sneezing. You can spread chickenpox to other people from up to 2 days before your spots appear.

Put a lotion with antihistamines on the rash.

• Have lots of water and fluids to prevent dehydration.

• There is a vaccine, which is taken in two doses.

In France ,chickenpox-related complications occurred in 3% of under 15s, and 6% of over 15s. In the UK, 65 people of all ages died from chickenpox between 2015 and 2020.In the US, there are around 30 deaths every year. There is an estimated 4.2 million cases of severe chickenpox-related complications around the world each year, and 4,200 related deaths.
