TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE NHS' GENERAL TAXATION FUNDING MODEL FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE?
MY TITLE:
why I CHOSE MY TITLE?HOW i chose my title?
- My future career ambition is medicine- provides me with an in-depth understanding behind the organisation I want to work for - Relative to the current issues in the world (inflation, NHS waiting time etc) - I chose this title based on the conversations I heard between people in my family - I figured it would be easily researchable as I personally know medical professionals - There was a lot of changes to my working title even whilst I was writing but with guidance from my supervisor I was able to come to a title that works for my report.

INITITAL IDEAS
My intial idea = "to what extent is the NHS failing the nation?"Evaluation: - not concise - no detail - sounds biased changed to: "To what extent is the current economic model in the NHS financially sustainable?" Evaluation: - more detailed - more evaluative - stops confusion changed to: "to what extent is the NHS' taxation funding model financially sustainable?" Evaluation: - very in-depth - creates detailed, concise objectives

OBJECTIVE 1
OBJECTIVE 2
O B J E C T I V E S
To compare the funding models of the NHS to the funding of medical sectors in different countries and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of other funding models.
To present the current funding model of the NHS and examine the financial history of the organisation to identify the stresses on the service’s finances.
HOW I CHOSE MY OBJECTIVES?
Originally I was unable to find robust materail about my topic to create objectives however after careful consideration of my working title it made it simpler. To make my objectives more detailed and understandable I added main 'discussion points'. For example: main discussion points for objective 1 included: » The taxpayer funding model » When did the NHS funding model begin to fail the organization? » What changes were made and what precautions were taken?
OBJECTIVE 4
OBJECTIVE 3
To discuss the possibility of the privatisation of the NHS and to analyse the NHS’ use of private service delivery to assess if healthcare should come at a fee
4To conclude the extent to which the taxpayer funded model is sustainable and to put forward recommendation on alternate funding models that might be used.
This aim is important to ensure I have a well written, interesting report however the topic is about finance and can be boring..
to create a detailed, educational report
how well was it met:
To provide me with a widened skill set. To test reliability of online sources against my own findings.
to conduct primary research
how well was it met:
AIMS
To find a new understanding behind finance and my future career choice.
My aims and did i meet them?
how well was it met:
to learn something new

FINDINGS:
DIFFERENT FUNDING MODELS
GERMAN AND INDIAN HEALTHCARE MODELS
HISTORY OF THE NHS
NHS EXPENDITURE
- started in 1948- lack of money in 1949 - had enough beds - increasing population = not enough services - post-pandemic
- Taxpayer funding model- Social health insurance - Private health insurance
- Increase post-pandemic- Financial pressure one year after it started - £18.17 billion in 22/23
- German = privateOtto Von Bismarck- Indian = social inspired by western medical organisations
COMPARISONS - INDIA
COMPARISONS - GERMANY
FUTURE PREDICTIONS
- No evident changes will be made- Improvements in tech necessary - More staff required and better services
- Both use public healthcare services as well as private however the UK spends more on yearly healthcare
- Germany and UK have ageing populations. Different health systems - Taxation is better for UK
A pie chart to show how well participants think the current funding model works for the NHS

PRIMARY RESEARCH
I conducted a survey about the financial state of the NHS I asked citizens of the country 15 responses I included qualitative and quantitative data Produced pie charts and bar graphs from the data
EVALUATIONRequires more responses Better presented Send to other communties Matched other statistics Different questions Gathered data on different topics
Long waiting times
EVALUATION:
WHAT WENT WELL
- I stayed on track for my deadlines- I met the word count - I completed my logs - I was able to modify accordingly - I conducted robust research I believe using my logs has helped me stay on track and keep organised during my writing period.

EVALUATION:
HOW I CAN IMPROVE
- Reduce my word count- Evaluate more in my report - Add more to my production and research logs - Remove unecessary information from my report I completed all this in my second draft of my report to meet all the targets on the mark scheme and so that I know i am trying my best to hit my personal target grade.
