Water pollution sources

Black tides:

1. formed by oil spills,2. prevent light from entering the oceans, 3. limit gas exchange, 4. causes the suffocation of many animals

Marine litter:

1. items that accidentally fall or are deliberately discarded into the oceans

• 13 million tonnes of plastic end up in oceans every year;

• 500 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year;

• 50000 microplastiss particles are ingested by humans every year .

What can we do to minimise sea pollution?

1. Replace plastic for paper,2. Reduce plastic cups, plates, cutlery or bottles consumption, 3. Use cardboard straws and fabric bags, 4. Buy more local food, don´t consume so many packaged products 5. Promote the removal of rubbish from the sea through new technologies
