wow

Not all set ups are the same – they’re different depending on your hub, master socket or if you have Internet Calls. But don’t worry, just select which hub you have, and we’ll show you easy step-by-step instructions. New to Sky Broadband? Your broadband won't work until your activation date (anytime up to midnight), so wait until then before setting up your hub.

Not Sure? Choose from one of these:

Internet Calls comes as standard with our Sky Broadband Full Fibre 100, Ultrafast or Gigafast package. And you might have it if you have Sky Broadband Superfast. View your Broadband & Talk bill to check. Tap the Broadband & Talk dropdown - you have Internet Calls if you see Sky Talk Internet Calls.

Do you have Internet Calls with your broadband?

Please select one of these options:

Connect your hub to your master phone socket or Optical Network Terminal for the best speed and stability. It's usually where the phone line comes into your house. Look for a socket that has a line in the middle, a BT/Openreach logo on it or a socket that's thicker than the others. Or, if you have an Optical Network Terminal, it's usually attached to the wall near a power socket. It might be under the stairs or near your old master socket.

Tip: If we’ve sent you some new cables for your hub (or a ‘Conversion kit’), you’ll need to use these to set up your hub again. Your broadband might not work if you don’t swap these in your setup.Check your activation date Your broadband won’t work until it’s been activated, so wait until then before setting up your hub. It can go live anytime up to midnight on your activation date. Not sure of your activation date? Check your hub packaging or sign in to Track my order.

Where you put your hub can really affect your WiFi signal. For the clearest signal: Keep it out in the open - not in cabinet, on the floor or stuck behind the tv. About 30cm of space is best. Keep it away from wireless devices like baby monitors. And try not put your cordless phone right next to it – as far away as the cable will allow is best. Try put it where you use the internet most - your signal is stronger near your hub.

First, let's position our new hub

It's usually attached to the wall near a power socket, and might be under the stairs or near your old master socket. Your ONT needs to be turned on and working before you start - the Power and PON light should both be green. Tip: Like your hub, your ONT always needs power for your broadband to work so make sure you don’t turn it off. Go to Optical Network Terminal for help finding your ONT and checking its working.

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the yellow Ethernet port marked 4 on the back of your hub - it also says WAN above it. It won't work if you plug it into any of the other yellow ports. Then plug the other end into the Ethernet port on the ONT - it might say PORT on it. Tip: If you've got an ONT with more than one Ethernet port, you need to use the one you told us to take over when you bought your broadband. If your PORT/LAN light hasn't turned green, try a different one.

Plug your phone into the port marked [phone] UK on the back of your hub. Use the cable that came with your phone - we don't send these with your hub. Remember: Your phone works through the internet, so your phone won't work if its plugged into to any other telephone socket.

Plug the power cable that came with your hub into the port on the back of your hub. Then plug into the mains and switch on. Good to know: When cables are all bunched together it can cause electrical interference and can slow you down. Keep your cables tangle free. After a few minutes the light on your hub will turn white. You're all set up.
