History of Thanksgiving :
Thanksgiving dates back to the fall of 1621, when it was decided to celebrate Plymouth's first harvest. These harvests would ensure the future of the colony. In fact, the English had disembarked from the Mayflower the previous winter. These Pilgrim Fathers founded the colony of Plymouth, Massachusetts. In the 18th century, the colonies celebrated Thanksgiving every year. It was not a day marked by abundant food and drink as is customary today, but rather a day of prayer and fasting.
