INDEX

Newton's prism is like a piece of glass that splits white light into rainbow colors as it passes through it. Thanks to him, he shows us the composition of light and that white light is made up of different colors.

NEWTON' PRIMS

We perceive colors through the eye. The eye is a sphere that allows light to pass through the pupil. Afterwards, the iris opens or closes, depending on the amount of light there is, and finally the image is projected onto a layer called the retina.

PERCEPTION OF COLOR. THE EYE

Subtractive colors, such as magenta, cyan, and yellow, mix to form secondary colors such as red, green, and blue. These are essential for paints and inks. In additive color mixing, the combination of lights from primary colors such as red, green, and blue creates a wider range of colors.

ADDITIVE AND SUBTRACTIVE COLORS

Color qualities

Three types:Hue: The specific quality by which a color is known, is the name of the color.Value: Amount of lightness or darkness (black or white) that a color has.Saturation: Degree of purity of a color. The higher the purity (fewer colors mixed), the higher the color saturation.

Color wheel

On a color wheel, the primaries (red, green, blue) are far apart. By mixing them, we get secondary ones in the middle. Between primaries and secondary colors there are tertiary colors. Complementaries are opposite, and the wheel is divided by warm and cool colors.

Mark Rothko was a painter known for his colorful, abstract paintings. He painted large blocks of colors that he wanted people to feel rather than interpret. His works, simple in appearance, seek to transmit emotions and depth through the visual experience of colors.
