BIOGRAPHY Nelson Mandela was born in South Africa in 1918. He went to school to become a lawyer. Mandela joined a group called the African National Congress (ANC) to fight against unfair rules that favored white people and discriminated against black people. He got in trouble with the government and was sent to prison for a long time, 27 years! While in prison, Mandela became a symbol of hope and freedom for people around the world. Finally, in 1990, he was released. After being released, Mandela worked hard to make South Africa a fair and equal place for everyone. In 1994, he became the first black president of South Africa. He spent his life fighting for peace, fairness, and equal rights for all people. Even though he passed away in 2013, his legacy of peace and equality lives on.
WHAT DID HE DO? Nelson Mandela did a lot to make life fair for black people in South Africa. Here's what he did: 1. Fighting Apartheid:Mandela worked hard to fight against apartheid, a law that treated black people unfairly and kept them separate from white people. 2. Going to Prison:He was sent to jail for a long time because he stood up against unfair rules. He spent 27 years in prison, but he never gave up fighting for what was right. 3. Becoming President:When Mandela finally got out of jail, he became the first black president of South Africa in 1994. This was a big deal because it showed that everyone should be treated equally, no matter their skin color. 4. Helping People: Mandela spent his life helping others. He talked about forgiveness and working together to make the world a better place. Even though he's not with us anymore, his ideas and actions still inspire people all around the world.
Personal motivation Nelson Mandela is someone I greatly admire because he fought for what was right. He battled against unfair laws that treated people differently because of their skin color. Even when he was sent to prison for a long time, he never stopped believing in what was just. When he became president, he tried to bring all the people in his country together, regardless of their skin color, to live together in peace and equality. His example teaches us that even one person can make a big difference in the world by standing up for what they believe in.
