WHAT IS NEUROPATHY
Paula Tena Hermosa 4ºD
Was born in Zaragoza on December 29, in 1975. At the age of 19, she lost the mobility from her waist to her feet due to a neuropathy. After a few months she adapted to her new situation. She learned adaptive swimming and after a year she started competing. She began to stand out in the competitions and test she carried out. She is currently an elite athlete, gives conferences for public and private entities and is a personal and sports coach.
It is a nerve problem that causes pain numbnesss,tingling, swelling and muscle weakness in different parts of the body. It can occur from physical injuries, infections, toxic substances, or conditions such as diabetes, kidney failure or malnutrition.
There are some of the recognitions and awards that Teresa Perales obtained:- Princess of Asturias Sports Award 2021- Member of the Royal Order of Sports Merit in the Gran Cross category 2012- Infanta Sofía National Sports Award 2016- Honoris Causa Doctor from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche 2017- Favorite daughter of the city ois Zaragoza.
She has a great sporting career. She has 27 paralympic medals from the Paralympic Games. She participated in world cups, she has 5 world records and finaly she was in the European Championships.Graduate in Physiotherapy and Expert in Personal and Sports Coaching. She has held different management and public responsability positions due to her commitment to society.
