• Examines what the Scottish Government is doing
• Makes new laws on devolved matters and debates the issues of the day
• Staffed by public servants, not civil servants. They serve as a whole and must remain politically impartial

• Runs the country by proposing laws and implementing policy on devolved matters
• Completely seperate from the Parliament
• Implements laws that have been passed by the Scottish Parliament

Each person in Scotland is represented by eight MSPs: one constituency MSP and seven regional MSPs Elections to the Scottish Parliament normally take place every five years
