On June 9, 2017, the executive board of the International Olympic Committee unanimously adopted the recommendation of President Thomas Bach in favor of a double vote in Lima on September 13, to designate the host cities of the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games, i.e. Paris and Los Angeles in an order that remains to be defined. On July 11, 2017, during an extraordinary session in Lausanne where the two cities presented their projects, the hundred IOC members approved this decision, unsurprisingly14. On July 31, the IOC announced that it had reached an agreement with the Californian city for it to organize the 2028 edition4, Paris remaining alone in the running for the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games15. On September 13, 2017, the members of the IOC vote unanimously and by show of hands in favor of awarding the 2024 Summer Games to Paris and those of 2028 to Los Angeles1.
