The Zimmermann Telegram
In January of 1917, the British intercepted and decoded a secret telegram sent from German Foreign Secretary Arthur Zimmerman to the German ambassador in Mexico. The message used a “substitution code” where the letters of the original text (the message to be put into secret form) are replaced by other letters, numbers, or symbols. You are a British Intelligence Officer in the famous "Room 40", tasked with breaking coded German messages. This particular message has been sent to the United States embassy by the Germans. The Germans claim it is peace talk information they wish to share with the Mexican government, a neutral government. However you feel this message may have another purpose. Crack the code, and share with the U.S. Government you discovery!
