Informations (manga)

Eiji is a slim Japanese youth with black hair and large dark brown eyes. Despite being an adult at the age of 19, he is often mistaken for a young teenager, even in Japan. He is seen in a variety of clothing choices throughout the series, often with Ash Lynx's clothing. Eiji has a very kind and selfless personality who is also inquisitive about things unfamiliar to him such as Ash Lynx's gun. Usually, he is an understanding, reasonable person, but can have unwavering stubbornness and can even be moderately rude when prompted.

Ash is a tall and slender young man. He has blond hair, green eyes, pale skin, and is extremely beautiful in appearance, as remarked on by numerous characters in the series. In the manga, his hair originally had a flatter style before changing to its signature appearance and he has a more petite build in the anime. Ash has the personality, charisma, and skill to gather large groups of individuals together under his influence. Not only is he excellent in combat and an incredible marksman, but he is also highly intelligent, with an IQ of 180-200.

In the manga, Shorter is slightly taller than Ash and has a tall, dark mohawk. However, around the time Ash was sent to prison and met Max, Shorter shaved his hair, being completely bald. In the anime, Shorter's mohawk is purple in color and he has an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow. Shorter is quite lively and extremely loyal. He is also protective.

Golzine is ruthless, cold-hearted, calculating, ambitious, and sadistic. He is well aware of his position and power and has no fear in exerting his authority. He is extremely power hungry and will use deadly force if needed to ensure his position and control of his criminal empire.

Banana Fish is set in the United States in the mid-1980s, primarily in New York City. Seventeen-year-old street gang leader Ash Lynx cares for his older brother Griffin, a Vietnam War veteran who has been in a vegetative state since a combat incident in which he fired on his own squadron and uttered the words "banana fish". One night, Ash witnesses two of his gang members kill a man who instructs Ash to "seek banana fish" before dying. The two gang members tell Ash they were acting on orders from Dino Golzine, the head of the Corsican mafia in New York; Ash was formerly an enforcer and child sex slave to Golzine, having been groomed from a young age to become the eventual heir to his criminal enterprise. Ash begins to investigate "banana fish" but is impeded in this endeavor by Golzine, leading him to turn on his former patron. Ash encounters multiple allies and enemies in the course of his dual efforts to uncover the meaning of "banana fish" and dismantle Golzine's criminal empire.

Plot summary

The fate that tries to carry you away, drifting futher and futher. You told me once about a leopard you read in a book. How you believed that leopard knew that it couldn't go back.
