In the garden, there was a special tree, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
God told Adam and Eve not to eat its fruit.

But, tempted by a serpent, they ate the fruit, disobeying God.

This act of disobedience is what many Christians now call the Original Sin. It was the first time humans chose to do wrong and it changed their perfect relationship with God.

As a result of this sin, Adam and Eve became aware that they were naked and covered themselves with fig leaves.
They felt shame and realised their mistake.

Upon learning of their disobedience, God explained their consequences.
Life would now be challenging. For Adam, it meant hard labour to nurture the land and for Eve, it brought pain in childbirth.

They were then sent away from the Garden of Eden to live on Earth.
Their removal from the Garden of Eden represents the human journey of facing wrong choices and seeking repentance for their sins.
