Reality is the state of existence, independent of individual perspectives. It’s simply the way that everything exists in this world. However, knowing an absolute and unbiased reality is impossible.

Reality is fact.Reality is real. Reality is the truth.

Perception acts as a lens through which we view reality. Our perceptions influence how we act on reality- they influence how we see, feel and hear reality. In doing so, we tend to assume that how we perceive reality is an accurate representation of what reality truly is. But it’s not. Perception can become a person’s reality, but perception is not reality.

The Observer Effect

The observer effect means that the act of observation itself can influence the behaviour of subatomic particles. This raises profound questions about the nature of reality and challenges the idea of an objective truth that exists separately from perception.

Optical illusions demonstrate how the mind can be deceived, leading individuals to perceive something that differs from the actual reality. This shows the malleability of perception and the limitations of relying solely on our senses to discern the truth.

The Search for Truth

The pursuit of truth is a journey of unravelling the layers of perception to reveal the core of reality. It requires us to acknowledge the limitations of individual perspectives and to be open-minded to different experiences. Our world is filled with misinformation, therefore fact-checking is an essential tool in navigating the truth. In a survey done by the Mozilla Foundation, 77% of respondents said that they were very worried about online misformation.
