A SELF-MANAGEMENT LEARNING MODEL TO FOSTER THE INDEPENDENCE OF PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES
Aims of the project:
- To improve the key competences of people with intellectual disabilities necessary to be able to participate in self-management programmes and to achieve higher levels of independence and social inclusion.
- To improve the professional competences of the educators necessary to design self-management programmes.
- To improve the capacities of the organisations to be able to implement self-management programmesr programas de autogestión.
Project budget: 139.429€ Budget allocated for IVASS: 55.344€ Duration: 36 months (until December 2024).

SELF-IN
Self-management programs
They are groups formed by adults with intellectual disabilities who meet regularly to:
- Acquire Communication skills
- Achieve a greater personal and social autonomy
- Increase their possibilities to talk and decide by themselves
- Learn to take decisions in their daily life
- Debate about our own relevant issues
- Be able to take part in the associated life
Metacognitive strategies
Development of Self-management programs from a metacognitive approach
SELF-IN INNOVATIVE APPROACH
“Competence to use our previous knowledge to plan a strategy to carry out a task, implement the necessary steps to solve a problem, reflect on the results obtained, and modify our approach when needed.”(Flavell, 1976)

Self-management programmes, associated key competences, metacognition strategies and creation of a tool for competence assessment (SELF-INCA tool)PR2. For people with intellectual disabilities. Training course to improve key competences associated to self-management. 20 accessible exercises (May 2023).C1.Training activity in Padua for educators (June 2023).NT1-NT2.
