Marzano Scale breakdown

Source

The semester 1 conversion chart differs from the semester 2 conversion chart to encourage students to develop their skills over the course of the year.

Using the marzano scale, 3 points out of 4 equates to an A grade. Using the current science grading system, 8 points out of 9 converted to a percentage equates to a B+.

In language and social studies classes, the standard grade gets converted into a number out of 4. Extending equates to 4, meeting to 3, developing to 2, beginning to 1.

Marzano, R. J. (2010) Formative assessment & standards-based grading. Bloomington, IN: Marzano Research Laboratory.

In semester 2, the points out of 4 get higher for each letter grade, so it is more difficult to get each grade.
