This power source works by the wind turning the propeller-like blades of a turbine around a rotor, which spins a generator, which creates electricity.
In October 2017 Hywind scotland began energy production. It is situated off coast of Peter head (scotland).

The hywind scotland project generates 135,000 MWh of electricty, providing sufficient clean energy to power 20,000 households in scotland offsetting 63,000 tons of carbon dioxe emissions a year.
However although it lowers emissions it does have an impact on the environment causing loss and disturbance of habitats for near by wildlife. Itb also brings the introduction of non-native species which can be detrimental to local spieces.
