Refugees Welcome
Rallying cry or relegated to an epitath?
Go!
Rwandan Repatriaton
The issue of asylum and those seeking refuge is not a new one, our governments controversial bill to unlawfully pass around human beings as though they are chattel or cattle, however, is and flies in the face of human decency, illustrating clearly the efforts to dehumanize people at their lowest ebb. Through the use of supportive interviews with Refuweegie, a Glasgow based refugee charity, relevant facts and supporting evidence I intend to dispute the apparent popularity, morality and legality of this reform. I believe this topic will resonate with your readers, being central on the political spectrum, the issue of those seeking asylum and the uncertainty they face from this Tory government will strike a chord with your readers.
“I would love to have a front page of The Telegraph with a plane taking off to Rwanda, that’s my dream, it’s my obsession,” Ms Braverman said.

Rising Asylum applications
A worrying upward trend with no contingency plan other than to 'stop the boats', grimly echoing the 'send them back' chants of the 70s and 80s.
Started in December 2015 by Selina Hales, Refuweegie is a charity that strives to enssure those displaced peoples are at least running towards a safe destination, providing 10,000 community-built, personal welcome packs and emergency support packs to people all over Glasgow and across Scotland. The mission statement is simple, 'Our aim is to enable the existing community in extending the friendly welcome that Glasgow is world renowned for', this sentiment is echoed across the city from all walks of life, in direct opposition to the Government's unprecedented plan of action. I will conduct interviews with staff at Refuweegie to support and provide an opposing standpoint to the idea that the Rwanda reform is in anyway indicitave of the way the wind is blowing.

'Refuweegee is a community-led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive. We strive to ensure that people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland to a warm welcome and some of the things that will help them to feel more at home here.'
Rwandan opposition leader Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza disputes Suella Braverman's claims that 'Rwanda has a track record of successfully resettling and integrating people who are refugees or asylum seekers', having spent time as a political prisoner in Rwanda Ms. Umuhoza has eyewitness, first hand testimony to dispute the claims made by Westminster

"Rwanda is no refuge for UK asylum seekers"
'Before opening its doors to those seeking refuge in the UK, Rwanda should tackle the issues that lead Rwandans to flee and refuse to return home.'
