• longest serving Labour leader and is considered by historians/ members of the public through various polls to be one of the greatest Prime Ministers in UK
• After WWII the war cabinet by Churchill was dissolved
• Attlee won on his post-war recovery platform.
• he implemented many social reforms like the passing of the National Insurance Act 1946 and National Assistance Act 1948, the formation of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948

• When Eden resigned in 1957 following the Suez Crisis, Macmillan succeeded him
• He was a One Nation Tory and supported the post-war consensus. He supported the welfare state and the necessity of a mixed economy with some nationalised industries and strong trade unions.
• he presided over an age of affluence, marked by low unemployment and high growth.

MARGARET THATCHER IN BLUE

david cameron 2010-2016

CONSERVATIVE

• His administration passed the Health and Social Care Act and the Welfare Reform Act
• It also enforced stricter immigration policies
• oversaw the 2012 London Olympics. Cameron's administration
• privatised Royal Mail and some other state assets, and
• legalised same-sex marriage in England and Wales.
• To fulfil a manifesto pledge in Cameron introduced a referendum on the UK's continuing membership of the European Union in 2016. He supported the "Britain Stronger in Europe" campaign for the UK to remain in the EU. Following the success of the Leave vote Cameron resigned as prime minister
