Zara is one of the brands that use sweatshops in Istanbul, and their use of sweatshops came to light when ‘help’ notes were found sewn into clothing. These notes were then investigated and it was discovered that a factory in Istanbul was forced to close and left its employees without work and pay for the jobs they had already done..

It’s equally known for its green, hilly countryside dotted with cherry trees and centuries-old Buddhist temples, plus its coastal fishing villages, sub-tropical islands and high-tech cities such as Seoul, the capital.

Sweatshops give people the jobs that pay more than their other alternative. Sweatshops contribute to a process of economic development.

In the worst forms of sweatshops, people are forced to work up to 72 hours straight. Those complaining would be beaten.

Sweatshops improve the living conditions of the workers even if we feel that the conditions are unfair. Workers choose from jobs available to them and in many cases jobs at sweatshops are the best option among their constrained choices.

Sweatshops often have poor working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labour and much more.
